Description
Ms. Bloome has been a member of BVSJ is Board
of Directors since 1998; she is presently the Secretary. She is employed with
the Bureau of School Health Central Office in downtown Manhattan as a Public
Health Nurse III. Ms. Bloome has been with the Department of Health for twelve
years. Starting out as a Public Health Nurse in the New Admission Clinic, Ms.
Bloome was responsible for providing children coming into the New York City
School System with physicals, auditory screening and other medical services.
Presently Ms. Bloome is working closely with the American Lung Association in organizing and training nurses in the Open Airways Program for Asthmatic children. Her duties include the training of contract nurses and the liaison between contract nursing agencies, nursing schools and the Department of Health. She is also responsible for recording and follow-up of all students is deaths.
Ms. Bloome is a United States Air Force Reservist, currently holding the rank of Captain. She is a trained Flight Nurse and Clinical Nurse and is a Gulf War Veteran. She is Past Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Long Island University and a Masters in Public Health Administration from Central Michigan University.
