BVSJ's Housing Division provides apartments for all veterans, female veterans with children, victims of domestic violence, market rate and low income families, and apartments with supportive services. Below is a brief description of each. BVSJ successfully developed 60 units with 2 commercial properties in 2000. These tax credit buildings were developed with the assistance of New York City Housing Preservation and Development and the Enterprise Foundation.
Pamoja House
Supportive Housing Program This housing program has the responsibility of locating affordable apartments and provide support services that include case management for eligible veterans referred by the New York State Office of Mental Health.
This residential program is designed to assist in providing permanent supportive housing and services to people who have been identified and determined eligible by HASA. Wazobia House A 42 unit studio apartment building designed specifically for the formerly homeless as well as residents living with mental health disabilities. Grant Per Diem The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Grant Per Diem Program (G.P.D.) located at Black Veterans for Social Justice Inc. is the only veterans GPD Program for the residents of NYC, that provides services to women Veterans; with or without children( up to 10 years old). These units are completely furnished one bedroom apartments. When moving in, the woman veteran needs only to bring clothing and personal items. Women need to be honarably discharged and deemed eligible by the Veterans Administration. Resurrection Homes

Under the auspicies of the New York City Department of Homeless Services, BVSJ is contracted to manage and operate this 200 bed Next Step homeless men's shelter. This shelter provides temporary housing, vocational training enhancement, employment referrals, and linkages to city agencies to secure supportive serivces needed to attain permanent, transitional and/or supportive housing.
