GEORGE JOHNSON
Board Member Since 1994
George has been employed for twenty-five years
by the New York State Court system. He is the proud son of Ethel and Hollis
Smith of Queens, New York and the proud father of daughters Nina
Dakata, 8; Dara Elena, 26 and sons Derek Troy, 37; David, 35 and Jeff,
34.
For seventeen years, he created and hosted benefits for needy children. To date over 20,000 children have participated in benefits from these efforts distributed through Community Parents, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Catholic Charities as well as many more. George has been honored numerous times by the NY City Council, NYS Division of Parole Guardian, NYS courts and others.
George is a poet, a gardener and a community activist. He is President of his block association. George is also a photographer. Currently sixty of the photos he took in memory of three senior court officers who sacrificed their lives on 9/11 are on display at the Civil Court Building at 111 Center Street in Manhattan.
